Faculty Leader of Creative Design (L8-10)  Required for September 2017 or earlier, if possible  Priesthorpe School Leeds, West Yorkshire Mainstream, 11 – 18 years (Mixed)   

We are looking to appoint an outstanding Faculty Leader of Creative Design who has a proven track record of inspiring and embedding best practice, meeting the learning needs of all students and securing excellent outcomes. 

  • The successful candidate will have experience of leading a team and will be confident in challenging and developing current practice to ensure that we deliver an outstanding provision for our students across key stages 3, 4 and 5.  
  • The Creative Design faculty includes the subject areas of Art, Computing, Media, Food Technology and Design Technology, including Construction. 
  • Facilities are strong across the faculty. Art has two well-appointed classrooms, a MAC suite and designated Post 16 work area. 
  • Computing has two recently refurbished ICT suites. 
  • Design Technology has had recent investment in CADCAM through Solidworks, Laser Cutting, 3D Milling and 3D printing. 

The faculty is well supported with 2 full time Technicians and one part time and delivers a broad range of qualifications at all levels. Staff continue to respond positively and imaginatively to the changes and challenges of vocational, creative and technical education.  Located in the west of the city of Leeds, Priesthorpe is a successful 11-18 Foundation Trust school. 10 minute drive into Leeds City Centre.

We were delighted that in November 2012 Ofsted recognised our improvements and judged Priesthorpe to be a 'Good' school. They commented that ‘All staff share the vision for the future of the school and work tirelessly to achieve it’ and that ‘Students are proud to be members of Priesthorpe School and say they are treated like adults’.  

  • Parents and visitors to the school often talk of its unique ethos. Terry Waite, CBE, reinforced this when he visited the school and called it ‘remarkable’.

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe is a 'Good' school in Leeds (Ofsted, 2024) with Outstanding features. It is an 11-18 Academy with a Sixth Form and an intake of over 1000 students and around 135 staff. Originally a co-operative foundation school and part of the Leeds Co-operative School’s Network, they joined the Co-operative Academies Trust in July 2017.
