Job overview
We are currently seeking to appoint an outstanding or aspiring school leader as Faculty Leader: Head of Science (Secondary). Currently, in grades 6 – 12, there are over 600 pupils in total. The secondary phase of the school offers IGCSE, AS and A Levels, as well as the American curriculum.
The post-holder will be expected to manage their own performance and development within the Secondary phase of the school, encouraging all staff to share a commitment to ongoing improvement. The post holder will report to Mr. David Evans, the school’s Head of Secondary.
The post-holder will be expected to provide professional leadership and management of the Science department and across the Secondary phase of the school.
The post-holder will be required to exercise their professional skills and judgement to carry out the professional duties in a collaborative manner set out in the job description.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate recent and relevant experience of:
- Proven exemplary classroom practice in a secondary school with substantial experience in the subject leadership.
- Observing and evaluating teaching and giving feedback to a teacher.
- Monitoring and evaluation of learning and teaching, leading to effective planning to raise standards.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Effective involvement with parents.
- Relevant qualifications in secondary learning years teaching.
Al Dhafra Schools are owned by Dhafir Group who are a well-organized establishment based in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
The group currently own 2 co educational, KG – 12 schools based in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and follow the British American curriculum. The new, state-of-the-art campus in Abu Dhabi boasts excellent facilities and as part of the success and growth of the schools, the group are now seeking additional Senior Leaders to take the school and education arm of the business to the next stage of its development.

The Senior Leaders will be responsible for overseeing the educational programmes and performance of their respective phase of the school and for supporting the organisation with its growth and development in international education. The role will involve leading, guiding and mentoring the staff with school improvement, curriculum development and implementation, performance in examinations and assessment, teacher training and development, and co-curricular programmes. The role will also involve working with the Senior Leadership Team.
