We are seeking to appoint a Family Liaison Officer who has a passion for making a difference to children’s lives and work as part of a pastoral team and in collaboration with the Director of Behaviour, Attendance and Attitude to develop closer links between school, home and external agencies. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the operation of Wood Green Academy and the success of our students.

Wood Green Academy is a large 11-19 multicultural comprehensive school set in Wednesbury in the heart of the Black Country. The academy is located about 15km from the centre of Birmingham and has excellent national links by having the M5 and M6 nearby. It is an innovative, creative and forward-thinking school held in high regard locally and nationally. The Academy has a long-standing reputation for achieving some of the best GCSE and Post 16 results in the local area. In our most recent Ofsted of February 2020 the school was judged to be good with outstanding features. We are extremely proud of being one of a small number of secondary schools in the country to have been graded as outstanding for behaviour and attitudes under the new framework.

Our staffing is extremely stable with a large proportion of our staff having worked at Wood Green Academy for many years. We continually invest in staff development through weekly dedicated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) time, and by offering professional development opportunities and career development. We are also a National Support School and a School Direct Lead School heavily involved with Initial Teacher Training working with local universities and Teach First through post graduate courses.
