Permanent/Part Time - 0.4 FTE (2 days per week) - flexibility around days.
Salary: MPS4-6/UPS 1-3 (pro-rata) plus Sen Allowance of up to £4,479 (depending on experience).
Base Location: The Minster School. However, the post holder will also be expected to visit/work from other Schools within the family on an “as and when” required basis with the option to work from home also.
The Minster Family of Schools are seeking to appoint an experienced teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator, to be our Family SENCO and facilitate and support our committed SENCOs in providing high quality and effective teaching and learning for pupils with Special Educational Needs within the Family.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in building the strategic vision, and the continued development of special needs provision and training in the Minster family of schools.
Main Duties:
- Liaise on behalf of the Minster Family with the LA.
- To ensure that funding decisions for children with significant SEND are fair, agreed and that the process is transparent. Supporting the moderation process by visiting all schools at least termly to see identified children and understand their provision and needs.
- To manage the AFN and FNF budget, ensuring the correct administration of delegated funds according to LA procedure.
- Liaise and work with the budget fund holder for the Family.
- To support SENCOs with the HLN process.
- To chair Minster Family SENCO meetings.
- To attend Family SENCO meetings, and linked agency meetings as required.
- To liaise with the Family Headteachers, attending Family Heads meetings termly.
- To keep up to date with and disseminate new initiatives and good practice.
- To attend relevant training, lead training sessions and coordinate training for the Family.
- To be a point of contact and advise for SENCOs, including support and mentoring for new SENCOs.
- To lead the periodic review of the Family, SEND Policy to include protocols and procedures around all aspects of Family working.
- Have an overview of transition arrangements for children with SEND at all stages of education.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the Family AFN and FNF budgets and funding allocations to schools.
