Residential Boarding and Girls’ Sports Assistant
Oswestry School seeks a residential boarding and girls’ sports assistant to support boarding, sport and the wider life of this busy school until July 2023. The role is necessarily residential and will involve assisting with the supervision and activity program within a girls boarding house as well as involvement in coaching, general supervision, and sports administration during the day.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead coaching sessions in at least two of the School’s major sports (for example; football, rugby, cricket, hockey, netball, swimming, badminton and basketball). The ability to coach hockey in particular would be an advantage. Coaching qualifications or experience of a high-level sport are desirable, as would be any lifeguard or swim-coaching qualifications. The role will suit a recent sports graduate looking to move into the arena of coaching or teaching, with a passion and a desire to throw themselves fully into the life of the school.
The School benefits from excellent facilities including an artificial pitch, spin bikes room with weights studio, swimming pool, and a large sports hall with two indoor netball/tennis courts the prime usage (other sports are also catered for in this environment comfortably).
You would be resident in Guinevere House, our boarding house for girls aged 11 - 18 and all meals, board and lodgings, are provided. A medical support package and use of facilities help emphasise that Oswestry School is a community which cares for its employees.

As a relatively small independent school, Oswestry School is able to offer smaller class sizes as well as a close academic relationship between staff and students. The school adopts a traditional approach to pastoral care, uniform and behaviour. Staff have high expectations of the ability of pupils to police their own behaviour and approach their education in a mature and adult way. The school invests heavily in extra-curricular activities, with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme just one of the major activities on offer.
