Job overview

Barlborough Hall School

4 hours per day, Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 12 hours per week, 41 weeks per year

Working at Barlborough Hall School in any capacity is a privilege. It is a special community with a proud history and a bright future, where staff and pupils work hard to achieve success and rewards. Located in the magnificent private grounds of Barlborough Park, the site is tucked away in the quiet village of Barlborough, near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. It is the preparatory school to Mount St Mary’s College, in the neighbouring village of Spinkhill, and is true to the Jesuit principles of a Catholic education.

Barlborough Hall School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 11. The School staff are a community who are genuine in their commitment to the needs of the students and the School as a whole.

The role of the Finance Administrator is vital in acting as a main point of contact for Barlborough Hall staff and supporting the Finance wider team by collating and recording all financial information on the school accounting system. The post holder will provide support in various administrative functions for the Headteacher and Finance, including monitoring budgets and dealing with incoming mail. The main duties include ensuring procurement and purchase ordering is completed in line with school policy, registering invoices and obtaining authorisation for payment, dealing with queries from suppliers, maintaining computer and paper records, providing information to support budgeting and dealing with all aspects of petty cash and monies from fundraising activities. The successful candidate will also be required to support collection, presentation and actioning of billing information and staff timesheets.

This is a busy and varied role, which will require the successful candidate to have extensive experience of working in a similar role including responsibility for data gathering and analysis and financial reporting. Therefore a meticulous eye for detail is necessary alongside the ability to be flexible and prioritise in order to meet time pressured monthly deadlines. Strong administration, communication and computer skills are essential. A working knowledge of PASS Financial Accounting Systems would be advantageous.

We are keen to hear from candidates with previous experience in a similar role within a Finance environment.

This is a great opportunity for the right individual to be part of a vibrant co-educational day school in the Jesuit tradition, catering for the needs of children aged 3-11 from all denominations in a truly ecumenical and happy environment.

The School values diversity and strives to promote equality at all levels, including its employees, students and customers. Applications are welcome from all sections of the Community.

Barlborough Hall School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Offers of employment will be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.

Our Preparatory School, Barlborough Hall is a day school and includes a Nursery provision. We are a special community with a proud history and a bright future, located in rural Derbyshire near Sheffield and Chesterfield. We offer 250 acres of picturesque grounds and a blend of traditional and modern facilities.

The recent ISI Inspection at Mount St Mary's College found that 'pupils feel safe in school' and there is a 'culture of vigilance which promotes the safeguarding and welfare of pupils.'

We were founded by the Jesuits in 1842 and we build on our Jesuit roots by teaching our students to be grateful and to be generous. We are a school where everyone is learning because everyone is growing.
