We are looking for a dynamic senior leader to manage our resources in order to have an outstanding impact on the experience and future of every one of our students.

Stoke Newington School and Sixth Form is an 11-19 mixed, comprehensive secondary school in Hackney. The school is located in north Hackney in an award winning refurbished building. Stoke Newington School and Sixth Form was judged as good by Ofsted in 2013 and 2017.

We believe that all our students can achieve excellence and that they deserve the very best teachers and resources to reach their potential. The school offers an ambitious and supportive curriculum and a broad enrichment programme. 

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Finance and Resources Director (FRD) who will work as part of a strong leadership team, leading all aspects of operations at our award-winning facility. The FRD will provide overall strategic leadership of all aspects of school operations, including HR, finance, communications, facilities, catering, ICT and administration.

You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, collaborating with the Headteacher and other SLT members to make corporate decisions and maintain the strong, mutually supporting relationship between the operation of the school and the education of the students.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • have a Business Management or professional accountancy qualification
  • have experience of leading finance, HR, premises management and other aspects of education administration, including developing strategy for these areas
  • be committed to the welfare, and education of children
  • have a good understanding of working in the public sector 
  • have experience of financial planning and managing budgeting and reporting processes in an organisation
  • have strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills
  • be able to work well with external partners 
  • have experience of project leadership and management
  • have extensive experience of managing and motivating staff, including building and developing teams
  • support the school’s high aspirations and high expectations of self and others


As a member of staff at SNS, you will have an opportunity to participate in and contribute to our stimulating programme of CPD focused on sharing and improving practice across all functions. 

This post is full-time, either all year round or term time plus 4 weeks (tbc).

Transport links are good – with Stoke Newington and Canonbury overground stations, and Finsbury Park underground station all within 20-minute walks. Bus links are also excellent.
