Job overview

FINANCE ASSISTANT

Grade 4 £20,092 - £22,183 (full time equivalent)

25/30 hours per week & 39/42 weeks per year (to be agreed with the successful candidate)

42 weeks per year is term time plus 15 days in school holidays

The Mercia Finance Team aims to deliver outstanding finance services to all Trust schools.

The current team is expanding and we are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic individual with good finance knowledge and strong communication skills. You will be joining an existing team of 6 staff that has a strong team ethic. The team is led by the Finance Manager and has well-established financial systems and procedures that are generic across the Trust.

We are a centralised team who work remotely from a number of locations and as such, the successful candidate will need to be flexible as to which school they could be based in.

Whilst our finance offices are located in schools, we deal exclusively with finance for the trust so you will not be involved in any other aspect of day to day school life, with students or parents/carers.

School experience is not essential as full training will be given, however, it is essential that applicants have experience of working in a financial environment with qualities and evidence linked to the job description.

Initially the priority for the role will be data input but there is potential for the role to grow and develop. We are audited annually by external accountants and you will therefore need to have excellent attention to detail and will be able to process high volumes of transactions accurately.

The successful applicant will:

• Have experience of maintaining financial information systems

• Have excellent communication skills

• Have strong IT skills in Microsoft packages and financial software

• Be able to problem solve

• Have experience of adhering to policies and procedures

• Have the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Be confident working independently as well as part of a team

If you are interested in this role and require further information please contact Mel Balfour, Finance Manager on 07932 574898 for an informal discussion about the post.
