Job overview

As a member of the Governing Body, you will be involved in the highest level of decision-making; having overall responsibility for the strategic direction and financial oversight of the school.  The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a high-calibre, enthusiastic Governor to join its Finance Committee. The Finance Committee works closely with the Head Teacher and Finance Director, is responsible for monitoring financial performance, ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place and makes recommendations to the full Governing Body on financial decisions.

 

This may be your first board appointment, but you will need experience as a strategic leader with commercial understanding. The Governing Body benefits from recruiting individuals with a diverse range of backgrounds, skills and experiences; therefore, experience of business operations, IT management or Real Estate property management would be beneficial.

Hours: This will vary with the cycle of the school year, but it is anticipated to equate to approximately 3-4 days per term, including both school time and evening engagements

The hours will likely be split into several activities across the period.

Salary: This is a voluntary and unpaid appointment with expenses paid.

Desirable Skills

·        ACA/ACCA/CIMA or relevant qualification

·        General business operations experience

·        IT management experience

·        Experience in managing property portfolios or in a finance team in a Real Estate environment
