An exciting opportunity has arisen for a pro-active and experienced finance professional to join our dynamic team.

Coombe Secondary Schools’ Academy Trust is an innovative and forward thinking Multi Academy Trust (MAT) consisting currently of two secondary schools and one primary school. As a fairly new MAT we are still evolving to reach our optimum organisational structure, whilst continually providing standards of excellence in teaching and learning and giving all of our pupils a positive learning experience.

We are currently reorganising the finance function, which has been predominately school based, into a more centralised finance team to ensure we are better equipped to provide an efficient and effective finance service to all schools within the Trust. This role will be pivotal in helping change the shape of the finance function so we are looking for someone who is committed to continuous improvement, possesses good analytical skills, and can be a team player.

You will be responsible for supporting the Director of Finance in the financial planning and management of the Trust’s finances. Main duties include will include: Overseeing the month-end process including monthly forecasts; preparation of termly management reports and variance analysis for Finance Committees; Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns; Assisting with the annual budget setting and assisting with the consolidated financial statements. You will also be responsible for line managing three senior finance officers and overseeing their workload.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be a part qualified CCAB accountant or equivalent, be proficient in Excel to an advanced level, and have experience of managing a small team.

Coombe Boys’ School is a comprehensive secondary school offering a broad and balanced curriculum to local boys aged 11-16. We also have a mixed sixth form run in close collaboration with Coombe Girls’ School.  There are approximately 1100 students on roll including the sixth form.  The school has held academy status since 2012, as part of the Coombe Academy Trust (CAT) which also incorporates Coombe Girls’ School, Knollmead Primary School, Green Lane Primary & Nursery School, and Robin Hood Primary & Nursery School.  The school is based in New Malden close to the A3 and with Motspur Park station within 8 minutes walking distance.
