An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, analytical and adaptable Finance Manager, with a strong attention to detail to join our outstanding Finance team working in a highly regarded Prep School with children aged 2 to 11 years.

A little bit about us
We are a small independent school in Windsor. The school has been running since 1936. We value each and every member of our staff team and recognise that people can bring different ideas and suggestions all of which are equally valued. We view our team members as our extended family and most of our staff have worked with the school for many years.

Responsibilities
The Finance Manager is responsible for the overall financial management of the School. The successful candidate will work with the Council of Management and the Head on all financial matters throughout the School, including but not limited to; advising on financial policy, preparing and reporting on annual budgets, monitoring income and expenditure, being responsible for the overall financial risk management of the School, payroll, submitting VAT returns. The Finance Manager will Line Manage two Assistant Finance Managers, working together as a team on all Financial matters.
As part of the Upton Office Team, the successful candidate would also be required to help out with additional school responsibilities such as covering phones and reception as and when needed as well as school/staff events which could occur in evenings and at weekends.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone passionate and eager to get stuck in with not just the financials but with the whole school and really become a part of the Upton House family/community.

The ideal candidate for this role would have:

• ACCA/CIMA qualification
• 3-5 years accountancy experience
• Previous experience of working in a busy Finance Team
• Previous experience of working in an independent school (desirable)
• Management experience
• Ability to input data accurately with excellent attention to detail
• Strong digital skills, specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are essential for this role
• To be proactive in getting jobs done without being asked
• Excellent communication skills
• Able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative
• Commitment to your role and being an inspiration
• Have a fun, can do attitude
• A willingness to meet challenges with enthusiasm and to contribute as a team member is essential

Upton House School is a independent co-educational preparatory school in Windsor, Berkshire. The school was first opened in 1936, and is located on a one acre site in the centre of Windsor. In 2008 the two-storey facility Little Upton was opened, containing pre-nursery and nursery rooms with access to an outdoor play area. There are approximately 295 students on the school roll. Upton House is denominationally Christian, and is a registered charity.
