King Edward’s School has an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to work within finance at one of the leading independent schools in the country.

This is a permanent position providing support to the Bursar and the School in all financial matters. We are looking for someone who is fully committed to working in a front line role and providing excellent customer service to support the School.

The successful candidate will relish working in a fast paced environment and will have a proven ability to see tasks through to completion.  The ability to remain calm under pressure is key, together with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and not be phased when unexpected tasks land in your email inbox or on your desk.

The Finance Officer will be a key member of school support staff and will liaise regularly with the Bursar, Heads of Department, Head of Finance at the Foundation and other key members of the Foundation Office including the payroll, purchasing and billing departments.

Experience of financial systems and controls is essential.  Experience of School finance (particularly School finance systems such as PSF) is desirable - alternatively the willingness to learn and the ability to apply finance experience gained in another sector is essential. The ability to communicate effectively and confidently is also key to the post, as is the ability to use IT.

This role also incorporates the operation of the financial controls over the King Edward’s School Birmingham Trust, supervision of the preparation of financial statements by external accountants and attendance at Trust meetings as required.

The role is a permanent, term-time (plus 15 days) position from January/February 2019. The successful candidate will work 37 hours per week, 5 days a week. The position has been evaluated at Grade 12, SCP 37 on the Support Staff salary scale, which equates to a salary of approximately £34,000 per annum (FTE £39,175).
