Job overview

We are now welcoming applications for a Financial Accountant (Technical) to provide technical financial support to the Head of Finance and the Finance Team in a way which complies with financial and audit regulations so that the objectives of the College and the team are achieved. 

As Financial Account Technical, you will support the Head of Finance in the production of the annual statutory accounts and regularity audit for the College with responsibility for the production of the Bury College Enterprises Ltd year end accounts. You will oversee the College projects, prepare the necessary reports and produce the relevant recharges. You will be responsible for the upload of payroll into the finance system and the production of the related monthly reconciliations in statutory account format. You will support the Management Accountant on the production of budget reports for the Business Review meetings and reconcile on a monthly basis the funding body grants to the contracts both in terms of cash and management accounts.

You will be a qualified accountant or have an AAT qualification with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a financial accountant in a similar setting. Strong IT skills including pivot tables, V Lookup and graphs is essential. Experience in understanding of Financial Reporting Standards and their application and capable of demonstrating up to date technical financial reporting knowledge is essential as well experience of handling competing demands. Previous exposure to audits is desirable.
