Job overview
The Board is looking to appoint a Fine Art Technician to join our growing team from September. The successful candidate's role will be to work with our Art Departments to provide technical and creative support for practical lessons, ensuring that resources and equipment and areas in creative arts are suitably maintained and fit for purpose. They will support the learning and teaching activities working closely with staff and pupils. The post holder will also be responsible to the Art Lead Teacher for an agreed level of expenditure and for maintaining budget information. In addition, the successful candidate will have access to light filled studio space within the school to be used as required during the school week.
The Kingston Academy is a new Free Secondary School in North Kingston, which opened for the first time in September 2015 with a cohort of Year 7 pupils. The school will grow annually by an additional year group until 2021. TKA has received a substantial capital grant for the refurbishment of the existing educational facilities and for additional new modern buildings. Our mission is to provide a world-class education for all the young people within our community to ensure that every pupil is safe, happy and succeeds. In Autumn 2017, the beginning of our third year of operation, we have over 500 pupils across the three year groups of 7, 8 and 9.
This role would be well suited to an art graduate who is considering entering the teaching profession in the future.

About The Kingston Academy
The Kingston Academy is an ambitious and outstanding new mixed, mainstream secondary school located in a newly renovated traditional school building and significant, state-of-the-art new extension in Kingston upon Thames, near to the River Thames.
The Kingston Academy was established in 2015 by the Kingston Educational Trust, a partnership between Kingston University, Kingston College and the Royal Borough of Kingston. The school initially opened with a single cohort of Year 7 pupils and has grown every year with an additional year group. It will eventually comprise all year groups including a Sixth Form in 2021-22.
The school's first full Ofsted inspection took place in May 2018 and the resulting report declared the school to be outstanding in all categories with no areas identified as needing improvement.
The announcement of the new cohort for September 2019 revealed the school to be heavily oversubscribed, drawing from a catchment area of less than 1km from the school.
