Location: St John Plessington Catholic College

Responsible To: A member of the Leadership Team

Salary Grade: Band F, Scale point 12-17 £21,162-£23,192 (actual)

Contract: This post is a permanent contract, Monday to Friday 08:15-16:30, 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus INSET days).

St John Plessington Catholic College are looking for an enthusiastic, empathetic individual to promote physical health and emotional wellbeing for students and staff, lead on first aid and provide first aid duties. The successful candidate will provide support and supervision for mental health and provide a high standard of effective, person-centred and evidence based assessment of wellbeing. Daily support will be required to oversee the daily management of students’ medical needs, such as the administering of medication and overseeing of medical needs.

  We would like you to: 

  • Promote the mental and physical welfare of the pupils and staff.
  • Be the school's lead first aider and a mental health first aider to both staff and pupils.
  • Caring for sick or injured pupils/staff, administering first aid for injuries or sickness.
  • Supporting the SENDCO and developing, reviewing and implementing care plans and risk assessments.
  • Managing the first aid training for staff, the medical budget and stock take.
  • Be involved in the health education of pupils to discuss medical and emotional issues.
  • To lead on whole school first aid provision – acting as main first aider and coordinating support from other first aiders 
  • Reporting sensitive, controversial or personal issues to the relevant members of staff.
  • Work as part of the wider pastoral and first aid and the administrative team. 
  • Hold a recognised first aid at work qualification, including additional training in chronic health conditions e.g. diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, anaphylaxis, defibrillators etc 
  • Being the first point of contact for all instances that arise in school for students, staff and visitors requiring first aid assistance.
