Job overview

Food and Nutrition Teacher required for January 2019

TMS/UPS

William Edwards is a very popular, oversubscribed 11-16 school, judged ‘outstanding’ by OfSTED.  It is the strategic lead school for the Thurrock Teaching School Alliance and is part of the growing South West Essex Community Education Trust. Pupil outcomes across the school are significantly above the national average.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic teacher of Food and Nutrition to join our highly committed and experienced staff. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to improving student outcomes across the age and ability range and be highly motivated and committed to the very highest standards. Applications are welcome from people at any stage of their career (including NQTs) and a relocation package is available to the right candidate.

Food and Nutrition is very popular at William Edwards and is well resourced and has seen significant recent investment. The school has two large Food Technology rooms and benefits from having technician support. Outcomes at Key Stage 4 are impressive.

The school offers a comprehensive induction programme for all new staff and a strong commitment to continuing staff development and training through our Teaching School.

If you have energy and passion in abundance and would relish the opportunity to join our staff, we look forward to hearing from you and we would welcome pre-application visits.

SWECET is a growing, cross phase Multi Academy Trust, established in 2015 to serve the needs of its communities.  SWECET currently has three ‘Good’ primary schools, one ‘Outstanding’ secondary and one ‘RI’ Secondary that joined the Trust in April 2017.   The Trust believes that schools should be unique and individual institutions with distinct character and that through effective partnership we can challenge, support and learn from each other in order to raise standards and provide exceptional opportunities for all our young people.   It is an exciting time to be joining SWECET with all schools continually striving to be better. Considered, purposeful growth plans are in place that will be to the benefit of all stakeholders. We were invited by the DfE as an approved sponsor to submit applications to open a new Primary Free School in Havering and Secondary Free School in Thurrock. These are both due to open in 2020.
