We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

We require a committed and enthusiastic Part Time Food and Nutrition Teacher to teach across the Key Stage and ability range, up to and including GCSE. Food & Nutrition is a popular subject at GCSE with several students every year choosing to continue to pursue post 16 studies, apprenticeship or employment in Food. Food & Nutrition is part of the D&T department which also includes Product Design, and operates a rotation of subjects on a carousel basis to all pupils at KS3. The DT department is supported by a dedicated team of teaching staff and support staff.  

The D&T department has purpose-built facilities for the teaching of D&T, Textiles, Food, Art, Resistant Materials and Graphics and is currently near to completion on new facilities for large sections of the department. There are planned upgrades and improvements for the Food & Nutrition facilities.

Added to this, the school is also at an extremely exciting juncture in its future. We are the lead secondary school in the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust formed on 1st September 2021. Demand is high, and owing to intense oversubscription, we will be 5 years through expansion to 6FE, with an extra-ordinary 7FE in Sept 2021.  We have also won over £7m in capital bids in the last 4 years and are enjoying brand new cutting edge facilities as a result.  The school faces an extremely strong and positive financial future.

Our previous OFSTED inspection judged us as Outstanding in every category, and our most recent S48 Inspection (2018) also judged us as Outstanding in every area.  Over the last 4 years, exam results have risen at both GCSE & A Level.  The ‘Progress 8’ score for 2018 was +0.61, which puts the school in the top 10% in the country.  At A Level the proportion of A*-B Grades as well as students enrolling at elite Russell Group Universities has risen significantly over each of the last 4 years with 2018 breaking all school records.

Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
