Notre Dame School are seeking a Part Time Food and Nutrition Technician to start work immediately on a permanent basis.
The food Technician will co-ordinate the use and maintenance of practical resources and facilities, and provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the food curriculum. They will also be responsible for ordering food, equipment and arranging for repairs, while keeping appropriate financial records to ensure expenditure is kept within budget.
Knowledge and Experience
- A good level of general education including literacy and numeracy skills in order to perform administrative tasks and provide support to teachers.
- A general enjoyment of working with food with a satisfactory standard of practical skills to undertake the tasks needed e.g. experience of preparing food, health and safety
- Experience of working with food is desirable
- To enjoy working with young people. Experience of working with young people is desirable.
- Thorough understanding of Health and Safety procedures especially as they relate to work in a Kitchen/Laboratory. A food hygiene certificate and first aid qualification or the willingness to qualify is desirable
- Knowledge of food, techniques used in food preparation and safe handling of food/s, and ability to communicate and demonstrate this knowledge effectively to staff and student.
- Advantage if they have undertaken the Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace or Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or be working towards obtaining these.
- Use of basic technology (computer, video/DVD, photocopier etc.)
- Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, equal opportunities and confidentially.
- Understanding of Schools financial process.

Term time plus three weeks out of term working (FTE 23.25%)
Salary: Circa £4,997 per annum (pro rata to £21,495 per annum)
Hours of work: 10 hours a week, over five days per week, preferably afternoons, term time plus 3 weeks.
