We are looking to appoint a Food Technician to work within our exceptional Creative Arts Faculty with a newly built and equipped Food & Nutrition classroom. Preferred hours of work will be 8am – 4pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 3:30pm on Friday. Experience in a similar role and environment would be advantageous but not essential.

Duties will include:

  • Providing support across all areas of Food and other areas of the school as directed
  • Maintaining hygiene and safety standards in all areas
  • Preparing lesson materials for teaching staff
  • Assisting teaching staff during practical lessons as and when required
  • Supporting the cover of lessons when require
  • Ensuring that practical areas are clean and tidy after lessons
  • Complying with all COSHH requirements when handling hazardous materials
  • Carrying out routine safety checks on all machinery and log safety concerns immediately with Head of Faculty - maintain records of such checks
  • Ensuring all tools and equipment are maintained in a safe condition within the department
  • Maintaining stocks of utensils and equipment within the faculty
  • Maintaining and recording stocks of materials and replenishing stocks

Breckland School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school in Brandon, Suffolk. It is run by Sabres Educational Trust.

There are 550 students on the school roll, aged from 11 to 16, expected to grow to 600 in a few years. Breckland School has well-established links with local primary schools and post-16 providers.
