Charnwood College have an amazing and unique opportunity for a Football Coach. We are passionate about sport and we’re looking for someone to improve participation, performance, and opportunities for our pupils. Whether you are new to coaching or have many years’ experience, we want to hear from you!

The role, based out of Loughborough but with the option to work across the David Ross Education Trust, will have responsibility for improving performance within our Sixth Form Football Academy, alongside enhancing participation across years 7 – 10. In addition, the post holder will develop the Charnwood Rangers community programme.

Depending on hours and availability, the coach may also run Trustwide Football opportunities including masterclasses, development days, trust competitions and All Stars.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to develop and grow our Football programme and their role within Charnwood College and the Trust. The successful candidate would work closely with the PE department to ensure sessions are planned, reported and delivered to a high standard.

There is the potential for some flexibility around the hours available and employment status for the right candidate.

About the role

Lead on the organisation and coaching of the Sixth Form Football squad, along with annual recruitment of internal and external players to the Sixth Form Football squad.

Deliver coaching sessions throughout the week before, during and/or after school to enhance performance and increase participation in all years. Hours can be flexible around the candidate.

Work with the Head of PE to effectively plan a programme of opportunities across the year including squad selection, training, competition, house competition and promotion to maximise performance and participation.

Promote the Football programme, via social media, press releases and regular update / reports to the Principal.

Collate and report attendance that will contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the Programme.

Run the weekly Charnwood Rangers sessions for two age groups at Charnwood College

Build close working relationships, or use current relationships, with local clubs and promote to pupils to attend outside of school time.

Help organise, plan and attend various fixtures throughout the academic year where your teams are competing

Who we are looking for

Coaching qualification or significant experience within Football

Passion for Football which could be drawn on to benefit the academy and pupils

Excellent organisation and communication skills

Ability to plan, organise and deliver meaningful coaching sessions

Willing to undertake additional NGB coaching qualifications

Experience of working in schools

Holder of a current first aid qualification, or willingness to undertake training

Holder of a current safeguarding qualification, or willingness to undertake training

Charnwood College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, 11-18 academy with sixth form, situated in the west of Loughborough in Leicestershire. The academy is part of the David Ross Education Trust and is governed by a Local Governing Body.

The secondary academy has expressive arts facilities which include a dedicated music suite and dance and drama studio. In addition, its sports facilities include a floodlit, all-weather 3G sports pitch, a new sports centre, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, a gym, a fitness suite, and extensive playing fields.
