Foreign Language Assistants for German, French and Spanish
12 hours per week, Term Time Only, October - March
Salary £8,633 per annum
We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative Foreign Language Assistants to join a dynamic and energetic department for one year in the first instance. The successful candidates will be given the opportunity to work with small groups of students and provide one-to-one linguistic support to students at all levels up to A Level in this highly successful school. The candidates will work closely with the Head of Department and will take responsibility for running the language club supported by the KS3 Coordinator.
The candidates will help to develop students' fluency in speaking and general linguistic and grammatical competencies. Although PGCE or other teaching qualifications are not required, fluency in the language and up-to-date knowledge of the culture and current affairs is essential. The department boasts a large pool of resources to which the candidates will have access.
We are among the top schools in England offering all students at least one modern foreign language at GCSE. Languages are a popular choice, with a number of students taking French, German or Spanish to A level. Examination results are excellent and the subject enjoys high status. Along with other staff wellbeing benefits, our admissions policy prioritises children of staff, accommodation at a very competitive rate may be available and we support teachers with PGCE credits with the completion of an MA.

Watford Grammar School for Boys is an academy with over 1400 students, including over 400 in the sixth form. From its origins as a charity school for 60 pupils founded by Dame Elizabeth Fuller in 1704, the boys’ school moved to its present site in 1912 and became an Academy in 2010.
