Job overview

Forest School Leader

Do you believe that ‘soft-skills’ sit alongside achievement in the classroom?

Would you enjoy making a difference to our children’s learning through leading Forest School sessions which allow children to work as part of a team, solve problems and interact with the world around them?

Wandsworth Preparatory School is a small, one form entry independent school for boys and girls aged 4 to 11. We believe that, from an early age, children should enjoy a breadth of opportunity to develop their ability, interests and potential in a nurturing, warm and secure environment. We see ourselves as a family school with unfailing emphasis placed on the happiness of each child. Our approach to teaching and learning, strikes a balance between ensuring firm foundations and creativity, allowing children access to a broad and balanced curriculum.

Wandsworth Prep is also a Forest School. We believe that the possibilities in Forest School sessions are endless, where the mud may wash off but the experiences may not! Children learn to work as part of a team, to solve problems and adapt their ideas, to interact with the world around them and to approach challenges logically. These ‘soft-skills’ are those that sit alongside academic achievement, are transferable and will underpin the future success of all the children in our care.

We are seeking an experienced Forest School Leader, to join our team to work with our children from the Early Years Foundation Stage to Year 6, to work one day per week during term time. This is a fantastic opportunity for an energetic, enthusiastic and imaginative practitioner who is able to plan and deliver a high level of outdoor education that will enable our children to explore stimulating environments and fun experiences that will help them to achieve and complete challenging tasks.
