Holy Cross Catholic Primary School is a mixed school for 4-11 year olds in Plymouth, Devon. It became part of CAST Multi-Academy trust on 1st April 2014.

Plymouth CAST’s organisation is designed to reflect Catholic social teaching within its policies and structures, not just within its curriculum offer. The core principles of this teaching centre on: the dignity of the individual; the common good; solidarity; and subsidiarity.   There are 36 schools within CAST, each with a local governing body with a delegated budget and delegated powers to allow it to operate as the local ‘steward’ of overall mission.

Holy Cross Catholic Primary School completed a £1.8m school expansion project in 2016.

Values and vision

Holy Cross Catholic Primary School has a motto: “Act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God”. There is a determination within the school to make learning fun and great emphasis is placed on the importance of relationships throughout the whole school.

The school focuses beyond academic boundaries and considers each child’s personal development. It believes that it is critical that its children feel good about themselves, have high self-esteem, self-confidence and are provided with a range of opportunities that make them believe that they can do anything.

Ofsted

“This is an outstanding school. Its success is founded on the headteacher's excellent leadership and the inspiration he provides to all members of the school community. This has created a strong sense of teamwork, with staff, governors, parents and carers working closely together to provide pupils with a high quality of education. Pupils and adults flourish in this environment.“
