The University of Nottingham Engineering & Physical Sciences Foundation (FEPS) Department has an established reputation for delivering high quality, innovative and engaging engineering and science education to students. The demand for the FEPS programme is growing rapidly and four experienced and enthusiastic educators are now required to assist in the further development and delivery of the curriculum.
The primary purpose of these roles will be to provide teaching and administrative support, working as a member of the core teaching team within the department and to help to ensure the delivery of an effective and high quality learning experience for all of our students. Teaching duties may include preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials problem workshops, seminars, practical and lab activities, formative and summative assessments, personal tutoring and pastoral care of students.
In addition to core teaching duties, the appointed candidate(s) will take on an area of specialisation within the department, working alongside members of the management team, to help develop and enhance our provision. Depending on your interests, skills and experience, you will focus one of the following key areas: Pastoral Care & Support of Students, Development of the Physics/Engineering Curriculum, Development of Laboratory Resources to Support Teaching or Development of Media Resources to Support Teaching.
It will be expected that the successful candidate will be willing, interested and able to become an active contributor to the wider scholarly and pedagogic research interests and activities of the department.
Candidates must have substantial experience of working with students at GCE, Advanced level, Foundation and/or 1st year degree level. Candidates must hold a degree in engineering, physical sciences or a related discipline - although an equivalent qualifications will be considered. A high level of computer literacy is essential and a teaching qualification is desirable.
This role is open to job share.
