Hartland International School seeks to appoint an exceptional Founding Head of Sixth Form, who will have responsibility for both the pastoral and academic care of all sixth form students.

Our School

The school which opened in September 2015, is rapidly developing a reputation for excellence in learning and teaching. We provide the best possible education for every child in our care and import the very best practices from independent schools around the globe. With just nearly 700 children enrolled at present from 65 different nationalities, Hartland is a truly international community. We combine a unique blend of academic challenge, enrichment opportunities and pastoral support to target excellence and create a values-based family of teachers, children and parents.

Located in the heart of Dubai, in a developing residential community, Hartland’s unique vantage point is the iconic landmark of the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and Downtown Business area of the city. The school will operate from Foundation Stage to Year 12 in the academic year 2021 – 2022 and is excited about the launch of its Sixth Form. We offer the National Curriculum for England and offer GCSE’s, IGCSE’s and we will offer a full range of A-Levels with some BTEC courses from September 2021. The school was recently awarded the Patrons Accreditation and Compliance Award from COBIS, The Challenge Award from NACE and is a member of BSME. 

The Post

Applications are invited from teachers who are passionate and forward thinking and who will thrive in a vibrant learning environment, helping us build and maintain the new Sixth Form at Hartland. The successful candidate will create a culture and an ethos of achievement and drive enrolments for all students post-16. They will oversee and develop plans and policies in relation to education and the curriculum in this phase of the school. 

As a member of the Hartland team, you will share in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care and will be someone who can thrive on the challenge of growing a new school and community. The successful candidate will have a teaching commitment but there is no preference for subject area at this time.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification
  • Have experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England or IB either in the UK or in an international setting
  • Be able to evidence exceptional examination outcomes for students at GCSE and A-Level, or at IB Diploma level in their previous positions.
  • Have a minimum 3 years experience in a Middle Leadership position (or equivalent) in a successful school 
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Have a working knowledge and understanding of ALLIS and ALPS data as well as university admissions processes across the globe 
  • Be committed to the Hartland Values
