At A-Level we had a 55% A* - B pass rate in 2018 and six students have received confirmed Oxbridge offers this year. We have a strong ethos, based on high expectations and standards for all, a committed and supportive staff who deliver high quality, engaging lessons and well-behaved students with excellent attitudes to learning.
We were graded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted in March 2017.
The MFL department is home to a lively and mutually supportive team, which offers French and German to A-Level. The successful applicant would ideally teach one of these subjects to A-Level. It is a well-resourced department with a strong emphasis on staff development and the appointed candidate can expect to gain significant enjoyment and professional fulfilment from working here. We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified graduate with the ability to contribute to this committed team. There is a strong extra-curricular emphasis with a full programme of exchanges and visits with schools in France and Germany, as well as links with the University of Cambridge, the Institut Français and the Goethe-Institut. Additionally, Latin is delivered to GCSE. Progress in GCSE languages was excellent in 2018, compared with boys nationally.
We offer an excellent mentoring programme for newly qualified teachers and leadership development opportunities for more experienced colleagues. Student enrichment plays a major part in the life of the school, through a wide-ranging extra-curricular programme, which includes a first class sports fixture card, a diverse and high quality music and drama calendar, DofE, debating, public speaking and much more besides.
TBSHS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of all our children and expects staff to share this commitment. A Disclosure Barring Service check and references are required for all successful applicants.
