French Language Assistant

Contract: 6 hours per week in term time. Fixed until July 2022. 

Salary: £24 per hour

London Academy of Excellence (LAE) is seeking to appoint a fluent speaker of French to the post of Foreign Language Assistant for six hours per week. LAE is in an Outstanding, heavily oversubscribed school located in the heart of Stratford, close to the Olympic Park and just two minutes from Stratford Station (zone 2/3), with excellent links to all parts of London.

The role

The role of the assistant is to conduct one-to-one conversation lessons in the target language with our A-level linguists and support the development of resources in the Modern Foreign Languages department. The ideal candidates should have a keen interest in education and willingness to develop students’ confidence and ability to communicate in the target language. They should also be familiar with the A-Level curriculum in French (LAE students are taught the AQA specification).

Ideally, the appointed candidates would be available to work for three hours each Friday afternoon, and 1.5 hours on each Monday and Tuesday. Alternately, the appointed candidate could work three hours on both Monday and Friday afternoons. This role would ideally suit candidates studying for a degree in French, or those with experience of tutoring or teaching French in the past.
