Founded in 2015, Le Régent is a Swiss boarding and day school with an international academic programme. Its modern campus in the heart of the Valais Alps in the stunning ski resort of Crans-Montana is designed for up to 300 students from Switzerland and around the world. Le Régent follows a rigorous academic programme in English in preparation for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme while nurturing the individual talents of each student with its diverse extracurricular offering, including sports, arts, music and mountain activities. Le Régent has been under the guidance of Institut Le Rosey (rosey.ch) since August 2019.
FRENCH AT LE RĒGENT
Although Le Régent is an international school with English as its language of instruction, it is located in a French-speaking area, and many of the school’s families are Francophone themselves. The creation of this post is one of the first steps in a project to strengthen Le Régent’s French offering over the next few years. This will take the form of developing the French department so as to be able to offer French classes from beginner to mother-tongue level throughout the school as well as the opportunity to study some subjects in French. The school already has an oversubscribed Bilingual Infant School and is to introduce greater bilingualism into the rest of the school beginning with the Juniors.
We are looking for a dynamic and forward-looking teacher, ideally with French as their mother-tongue, to teach French, and possibly, one other language throughout the school from class 2 to IB2 (UK years 3-13).
Although a passion for teaching as well as for the French language and the Francophone world, is the most important quality, the ideal candidate will also be able to offer:
1. Familiarity with the best of modern thinking and approaches to teaching French
2.Knowledge and experience of integrating IT into teaching and learning
3.Readiness to play a full part in the day and boarding life of the school
4.Experience of the IB, GCSE and DELF
5. Knowledge and experience of integrating IT into teaching and learning tool
6. A contribution to extra-curricular provision and the wider life of the boarding school including duties and some weekend commitments
7. A teaching approach that encourages the skills of reflection, innovation and problem solving in line with the school’s educational philosophy to create future-ready learners
Possibility of a boarding role may be available for an appropriately experienced candidate.
The closing date for applications is 28th September but interviews of suitable applicants will begin immediately, and an appointment made as soon as possible and at the very latest by 16th October.
