The Fells Federation is made up of two small, forward-thinking schools in the heart of the Lake District, John Ruskin Secondary school in Coniston, and Coniston CofE Primary School.  We are wishing to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic and multi-skilled colleague to a twelve month fixed term position in our French department as maternity leave cover. As well as teaching in John Ruskin School, the successful applicant will deliver French to primary students.

We are looking for someone who is:

Both schools have been rated as good by Ofsted, describing the secondary in 2019 as a place where, ‘Staff and students are highly motivated to do their best and everyone thrives’. We have two French teachers who work closely together to deliver an engaging and fully accessible curriculum in KS3 and KS4. Every student at John Ruskin School takes French at KS3 - our lessons are tailored to a full range of ability. We also collaborate with colleagues in France to give our students opportunities to communicate with French pupils and make the language come alive.

About John Ruskin School

Located in Coniston, Cumbria, John Ruskin School is a high-performing and small secondary school. With approx. 240 pupils aged 11-16, it boasts a range of teaching and recreational facilities and activities in a great Lake District location. Staff are able to swim, run, walk, cycle at the end of a school day; cars can be left on site until the gates are closed. Parking on site for staff is free of charge. We value staff development and will work with you on CPD opportunities.
