Job overview

Focus School Swaffham is seeking to appoint an outstanding Science Teacher to teach up to GCSE on a part time basis from September 2018 or sooner. We are a small, successful Y3-13 mixed independent school with a strong Christian ethos located in the picturesque market town of Swaffham, with excellent links to Norwich, Cambridge and the Norfolk coast.

The school has undergone a rapid and sustained transformation in recent times and is a strong member of the OneSchool organisation (the largest body of independent schools in the world). We are at the cutting edge of technology and educational innovation and we place the success and happiness of our pupils, Self-Directed Learning and our unique and comprehensive CPD programme at the heart of all we do.

The school was judged to be “Good with Outstanding features” in its most recent School Inspection Service (SIS) report. The school benefits from excellent teaching and support staff, well-behaved and engaged students and small class sizes.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding French teacher on a permanent basis three days a week. The successful candidate will be an inspiring educator with an overt passion for their chosen subject and profession. You will have the ability to inspire pupils, engage with parents and direct other adults within your classroom. We welcome applications from candidates who are keen to join us on our journey to “Outstanding”.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged. For more information and to arrange a visit, please contact John Shanahan, Headteacher, on 01760 336939. To request an application pack please email flt.recruit@focus-school.com

Focus Learning Trust is committed to the welfare and safeguarding of children, and as such the post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

About OneSchool Global UK Swaffham Campus

"We have a vibrant and supportive environment at Swaffham where both students and staff are encouraged to grow and excel. There is a deep sense of community and collaboration amongst all stakeholders, making every day fulfilling and rewarding.”

Our Swaffham campus is a warm and vibrant school where students, staff and stakeholders aspire to be the best they can be. Occupying around two and a half acres at the northern point of the Breck, our 86 students and 20 staff members enjoy a campus with modern facilities, strong pastoral care, and a focus on academic excellence.

Opening in 2005, the campus enjoyed a major upgrade in 2008 with a complete refurbishment of the existing buildings and construction of a new gym and senior teaching block. In 2012, a new block was added to further improve facilities. And in 2019, a learning centre and primary learning centre, were built, providing modern learning facilities for our students and teachers alike.

There is a strong, student-led culture for fundraising and charity at Swaffham, with an active Student Leadership Team who come up with ideas for school-wide events. Not only does each initiative raise hundreds of pounds for charity, but it also gives students valuable experience in organisation and leadership.
