Job overview

Connaught House School

Full time School Secretary

This is a permanent role

Start date: 18/4/2023

Connaught House is a nurturing and happy family-run school. We are a coeducational primary school and have a one-form entry.

At the core of our ethos lies a dedication to the importance of emotional well-being as the foundation for creativity and growth and the value of developing soft skills and emotional intelligence.

Entrance is at 4+ and is based on an informal assessment. Our small class sizes, of between 10 – 12 children, enable us to focus on each child’s individual needs.

The school is housed in a grade two listed Georgian town house in Connaught Village.

The school is situated in the heart of London, on the border of Paddington, Marble Arch and Hyde Park. It is a short walk to Paddington and Marble Arch tube stations and a bus ride to Victoria train station.

As the initial point of contact to the School, the Secretary should provide a warm welcome to all, be a confident and organised administrator, be flexible in approach and enjoy working with children.

The successful applicant will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Warm, calm and pleasant manner.
  • Good communication and literacy skills.
  • Excellent ICT and administrative skills.
  • Available to work approximately three evenings per term to about 6.30 pm for Parents Evenings
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Demonstrate that they are punctual and reliable.
  • Have suitable references
  • Understand Data Protection laws and feel confident adhering to school GDPR policies

Closing date for applications is 20/2/2023.

Apply by completing the linked CHS application form only. CV’s will not be considered.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants will be required to have or need to undertake basic training in First Aid, Safeguarding & GDPR as well as undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide police checks from other countries if necessary.

A copy of the school's recruitment policy and safeguarding and acceptable use policies are available to download from the school's website.

The school reserves the right to appoint ahead of the closing date.
