(Please note that NQTs will be considered regardless of previous experience of teaching out of subject).

The ideal candidate will:

  • be an outstanding teacher of PE who can inspire and challenge learners of all abilities, enabling students to meet their full potential
  • show a passion for teaching PE

  • demonstrate a creative and imaginative approach to teaching and learning
  • have excellent organisational skills
  • be focused on building strong professional relationships
  • be able to motivate and inspire students and colleagues to achieve their full potential
  • be an advocate of a can do culture and philosophy
  • be committed to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school
  • show respect and promote the school’s ethos and CHARACTER values
  • demonstrate the ability to fulfil all aspects of the role, with confidence, through the medium of English.

At Denefield School we can offer you excellent CPD within an environment where we all work together to achieve our shared ambitions for our students.  This opportunity is open to both NQTs and experienced teachers.  If appropriate, to enable the successful candidate to be included in our induction process, the appointment may be made with effect from the middle of July 2018.

If you want to be part of our plans for the future, please visit www.denefield.org.uk to download and complete an application form returning it, along with a covering letter of no more than two sides of A4, to recruitment@denefield.org.uk.  If you would like to discuss the role or arrange to visit the school, or indeed our day nursery for which we offer generous rates and term time only contracts for children of staff, please contact the school directly on 0118 9413458.

Denefield School is committed to safeguarding children; successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.  CVs will not be accepted

Top reasons to work at Denefield

  • Strong behaviour systems – we believe in clear routines, appropriate responses and outstanding relationships fuelled by mutual respect. This means that students can learn in lessons and teachers can teach. We centralise detentions so that teachers are free to think about curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Great curriculum resources – clear and coherent schemes of work that mean you can focus on how you teach.
  • Commitment to high quality CPD – we’ll support and challenge you as an individual so you can develop your skills as a teacher - whatever your career stage or experience.
  • Work smarter not harder – we focus on evidence-based approaches where teacher-time spent is commensurate with the impact on student outcome. This means, for example, that we use whole-class feedback rather than individual comments because at Denefield, we want you spending time on things that will actually make a difference!
  • Staff well-being as a priority – we care about our staff as teachers and as people. Teams work very closely together and support each other day-to-day. Our commitment to your health and well-being is centred around making sure you are only asked to do the things that make the most difference to our students, but we also sign up to initiatives like 'bike to work' and offer all staff a free winter flu vaccination and access to an employee assistance programme.

We welcome applications from international teachers and are able to sponsor eligible candidates. Please come and visit or get in touch to find out more about Denefield.

Denefield is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All short-listed candidates will be subject to online searches and any successful candidates will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check along with other relevant pre-employment checks. CVs will not be accepted
