FUNDRAISING MANAGER

Overall Purpose

We are looking to appoint a Fundraising Manager who will be responsible for managing a £1 million capital appeal to cover the cost of the final phase of a transformative development project at Central Foundation Boys’ School (CFBS) and, subsequently, for developing a new fundraising and alumni function at the School.

The School

CFBS is a successful and growing secondary school located in central London. The School provides outstanding education to over 1,050 11-19 year-olds from a diverse catchment, including some of London’s most deprived wards. Intakes of students are balanced to ensure they are fully mixed ability. Large numbers of students are entitled to free school meals or have been in the recent past.

As well as excellent educational outcomes in core subjects at GCSE and post-16, the School focuses on providing a breadth of curriculum rarely found in a maintained school. Alongside the core academic and vocational subjects, the School prioritises access to a broad range of sports and creative arts subjects. Students are provided with a wide range of educational experiences, including academic, sporting, musical, dramatic, debating and public speaking, allowing students to develop their unique talents and build confidence to forge their individual paths in life.

The capital appeal

The School is currently undertaking an extensive campus development project, construction of which started in July 2018. By the completion of the project in 2023, it will transform the School’s historic site so that it can effectively support outstanding education in 21st century facilities.

Phase 1 of the project has already provided the School with a new science centre and a fully refurbished and reconfigured maths and humanities building. These were opened in 2020 and are fully in-use by the School and students.

Construction of Phase 2 is currently in progress, and will deliver a new sports hall, with associated changing rooms, a creative arts building, and a transformed central courtyard.

Almost all of the project is already funded, but the School is seeking to raise around £1 million from a capital appeal for the balance (currently underwritten by the charitable foundation which owns the School’s site).

The Role

The role is for a fixed term of one year on a part time basis, with the possibility (if funding is available) for it to be extended for the purpose of developing the School’s fundraising and alumni function. Salary is subject to negotiation, based on experience and hours to be worked.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced criminal record check and other pre-employment vetting checks.

The successful candidate will be required to comply with safeguarding responsibilities as set out in the job description.

This post will involve working with children in a regulated activity. All posts involving direct contact with children are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. However, amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are 'protected'. These are not subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account.

Please download an application pack from TES website or contact the school on 02072533741 / e-mail obireka@cfbs.islington.sch.uk.

Applications should be sent to the school address FAO HR Manager or emailed to obireka@cfbs.islington.sch.uk.

Closing date: Tuesday 29th November, 12pm
