Future Leader of Science
Required for January 2018
Salary MPS/UPR plus TLR available
Science is a large department and is an inspiring and vibrant place to teach, where teachers are eager to nurture within the classroom and beyond the scientists of tomorrow. This post is a great opportunity for a teacher in their first 3 years of teaching who is well qualified, curious, motivated and has the potential to be a dynamic leader: putting our children at the centre of all they do.
You will have a strong vision for Science; a commitment to young people and their development as learners and members of the community. You will have had a successful start to your career in learning and teaching with experience of collaborating and engaging with curriculum design and sharing outstanding practice. This post is ideal for the scientist who is eager to lead on the next level, with opportunities within a large department, networking within our alliance and with centres of excellence in science. You will have an interest in professional learning and some experience in leading and influencing others; as part of your fast track to leadership we will expose you to leadership training, opportunities to shadow outstanding practitioners in different aspects of leadership, enabling you to hone your own leadership skills.
We promote and nurture wider links with the science community with staff having links nationally and internationally: IOP and Ogden Teaching Scholarships ambassador; represented at Womened Unconference and a series of conferences in Japan; teacher researcher post at Kings College London; representative of the Enterprising Science project and committee members for ASE London. We have 2 Lead Practitioners within Science and an SLE; there is scope to progress personally within the school and Teaching School alliance.
We very much look forward to meeting you.
