RMS is committed to educating young women to be creative, enthusiastic and generous contributors to an ever-changing world.

RMS seeks to recruit a caring and outgoing GAP Assistant to join our team of GAP Assistants. We are seeking a GAP Assistant who will add value in a pastoral care environment within our boarding houses and also in academic areas throughout the school. GAP Assistants also contribute in school by supporting academic and administrative departments. Tasks are varied and can cover day and/or evening hours. The position is an ideal opportunity for candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching or education generally.

GAP Assistants live on site, and single accommodation is available. However local applicants may prefer to be non-residential.  Many of our staff live on site, we have fifty residential properties spread around the grounds, and RMS has a strong family ethos. For those who want the bright lights, thirty minutes on the tube will get you to Central London, and for those who don’t, a walk around our 300 acres of parkland on a summer evening is hard to beat.

RMS is one of the top performing schools nationally for Value Added at GCSE and A level and we are proud to be an inclusive school where all girls are encouraged to fulfil their potential. Potential candidates are strongly encouraged to visit the school website www.rmsforgirls.com and social media accounts for more information about our thriving school, with its inclusive community spirit that encourages both girls and staff to share a commitment to continued personal, professional and academic development.

Values and vision

The Royal Masonic School sets very high standards for the academic progress of its pupils. It offers an engaging and vibrant curriculum, with a number of modern teaching facilities to help its pupils reach their full potential.

Aside from academic success, the school also highly values emotional and social intelligence, with girls being encouraged to steer their own learning and become independent and self-motivated.

ISI report

“Sharply focused assessments by experienced staff ensure that the next steps are suitably challenging for every child. A careful balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities enables most children to reach or exceed their expected levels in the seven areas of learning. Daily opportunities for outdoor learning in all of these areas are limited in the classes without immediate access to outside facilities.”
