Job overview

We have an unexpected vacancy for a GAP Assistant to work with us from January 2023 until July 2023 (a shorter period may be considered). This would best suit someone taking a gap year between A levels and university.

Hall Grove is a family-owned school with a family ethos at its heart. Our school values are the foundation of everything we do. To better understand the unique learning environment that is Hall Grove School, all applicants are strongly encouraged to visit our website www.hallgrove.co.uk prior to applying.

GAP Assistants play an important role at Hall Grove in supporting the staff and pupils around the school, making this varied and busy role both challenging and fulfilling. You would be joining a small team of GAP Assistants with a great opportunity to get some experience of work and increase your confidence before moving on to your next role or university.

Although GAP Assistants will require the flexibility to work across a range of departments, an interest in supporting the boarding house and sports department is vital. In boarding, GAP Assistants help with boarders' prep in the evenings, and run games and activities for boarders during their free time on a rota basis. GAP Assistants play a crucial part in creating a family atmosphere built on our strong pastoral ethos. In the Sports department they support fixtures and assist in games lessons as well as assist in the preparation for lessons and matches. There may also be involvement in occasional school trips when required.

Hall Grove is committed to safeguarding, keeping children safe from harm and promoting their welfare. All staff have the responsibility for safeguarding children and this is a key part of the role.

Applications to the Headmaster by email (recruitment@hallgrove.co.uk), attaching the completed Application Form.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (as amended) and full safeguarding checks will be undertaken prior to appointment.

The school is committed to equal opportunities, welcoming applications from all those who meet the essential requirements of the role.
