Dulwich Prep London is an exciting place to work. With around 810 pupils, it is the largest boys’ preparatory school in the UK and is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the most cosmopolitan city in the world.
We are looking for enthusiastic and creative Gap Assistants to join our dynamic staff in the forthcoming Spring Term 2024, running from 9 January 2024 to 28 March 2024, and for Summer Term 2024.
Our Gap Assistants are valued members of the teams in which they work. We aim to ensure that our Gaps gain unique work experience and life-enriching skills by being immersed in the day-to-day running of the School and working collaboratively with teaching teams, whether it be assisting in Music, supporting small groups of children in lessons or working alongside our expert practitioners in the Early Years.
Many of our Gap Assistants will work for one or two terms, although those available to work a full academic year (i.e. three terms) may be prioritised. Ideal candidates will be responsible and organised and will have the ability to work supportively and encouragingly with our children.

For over 140 years, Dulwich Prep has stood as a leading preparatory school, inspiring generations of boys and, through our co-educational Nursery, young girls, to pursue their dreams. As we evolve, we remain committed to excellence in boys’ education, and our co-educational nursery, with the launch of our Senior School in September 2025. Dulwich Prep & Senior offers flexibility in educational pathways. We support transitions to senior schools at 11+ and 13+, while also providing the option for pupils to remain with us through Years 9 to 11, facilitating a smooth transition to sixth form post-GCSE.
We believe in working closely with parents to embed our values ethos, as these principles are key to fostering the character development and emotional intelligence necessary for success in today’s fast-paced society. We are confident that when values are instilled, academic excellence naturally follows. This is reflected in our recent achievements, with over 300 scholarships awarded between 2020 and 2024, and 93% of our leavers securing a place at their first-choice senior school.
