We are seeking to appoint high-quality individuals to join our school as resident Gap Tutors for the academic year 2023/2024 or part thereof.

The role of the Gap Tutor is a varied and exciting one. You will be an integral part of our staff team and will contribute widely across many areas of school life. Above all, we want you to have fun and develop as a professional in our happy, purposeful and dynamic school.

The successful candidates are likely to be enthusiastic and energetic school leavers who demonstrate high standards, skills and attributes in one or more of sport/music/drama/academia, a willingness to work hard, and the ability and motivation to be part of a committed and talented team.

You will be joining a friendly, motivated and dedicated group of staff, all of whom contribute significantly to the success of our 3–13 day and boarding co-educational school.

The salary for this role is £6,927.77 along with single accommodation provided (term time and holidays) free of charge in our boarding house (EX1 postcode). All utilities are free of charge, as is use of wifi and laundry facilities, and all meals are offered free of charge during term time.

A job description and person specification are available. Further information about the appointment process and requirements can be obtained from Mrs Rosie Hankin, Support Services Office Administrator: r.hankin@exetercs.org. Information about the School can be found at www.exetercathedralschool.co.uk.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on 5 June 2023. Applications using the ECS non-teaching application form, and with an accompanying letter, should be sent to r.hankin@exetercs.org. Interviews for shortlisted candidates are likely to take place in the week beginning 19 June although this may be subject to change. Early applications are encouraged: the School reserves the right to interview and appoint at any time.

Exeter Cathedral School is a flourishing independent day and boarding Prep School for girls and boys aged 3-13.

Founded in the 12th century as a choir school, Exeter Cathedral School now educates approximately 280 pupils. 36 of these are the boy and girl Choristers of Exeter Cathedral, who continue the centuries-old routine of leading the daily sung worship in the Cathedral.

Nowadays, we offer a fully-rounded Prep School education to pupils from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of talents and interests, whether they be sporting, academic, artistic or musical.

We have an enviable location (right in the heart of the city and yet nestled safely in the lee of the Cathedral), a maximum class size of 18 (allowing us to get know each and every pupil as an individual), a proven track record of securing places and scholarships to a range of leading senior schools, and a firm commitment to being a forward-thinking Prep School with traditional values.

Above all, we are a school where people matter, and where staff and families work in partnership to help children acquire the right habits for life.
