Job overview

We are seeking an outstanding Gap Year Assistant to join our thriving preparatory school community. This is a term-time position offering broad, hands-on experience across teaching support, pastoral care and co-curricular activities. You will work alongside dedicated teachers and experienced staff in a leading independent prep school for girls aged 4–11, supporting classroom learning, supervising pupils, assisting with school trips (including residential visits), coaching PE, supporting music and drama productions, and helping with the smooth running of our vibrant school office.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to develop professional skills, gain genuine insight into the world of education, and contribute meaningfully to pupils' wellbeing and personal development in a supportive, inclusive environment.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and approachable recent school leaver who is curious about education and eager to learn. You should be flexible, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a close-knit team while taking initiative when needed. Strong organisational skills, confidence working with children, and the ability to communicate clearly and positively with pupils, staff and parents are essential. Above all, we seek someone who is warm, supportive and genuinely interested in helping young people flourish. Kensington Prep School is a buzzy Independent Day School for girls aged 4-11.  It opened in 1873, the first school to be established in the Girl’s Day School Trust.  The school moved to Fulham in 1997 and is set in spacious grounds with netball and tennis courts and pond for environmental studies.  There are fantastic dedicated facilities for music, drama, IT, science, art and design.
