The Role

We are looking for a passionate teacher who has expertise in delivering GCSE English Language and/or Functional Skills (Entry, L1 and L2). The successful candidate will join an up and coming team of like-minded professionals who care deeply about the development of literacy within a Further Education setting. Ideally, you should have experience working with learners in a post-16 setting and have an ethos centred around care and development. 

Any experience from candidates with standards verification, moderation or marking examinations would be welcomed. 

The successful candidate will have an excellent track record in teaching and demonstrate commitment to achieving the best for each student. To support the successful member of staff, there is a highly effective college CPD programme in place that encompasses the development of digital skills as well as teaching and learning; in addition to this, candidates are encouraged to undertake external CPD funded by the college. 

The post requires at least a degree level qualification in a related field, and candidates should hold, or be willing to work towards, a PGCE or qualified teacher status.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• To undertake all forms of pedagogic work which may include classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements. 

• To conduct curriculum development work including identification of consumer requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses and course materials.

• To ensure the associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking is undertaken. 

• To support and participate in in-service training and staff development programmes based on assessment of individual and College needs. 

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience. 

• Possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

• Experience working within a HE/FE environment
