Strive, Succeed, Surpass

We are looking for a General Assistant Lettings to ensure our school provides a high level of good service to our customers and users. The post will cover five evenings per week and one day at the weekend.

Your role would mostly be dealing with the customers and users who hire the school facilities and premises. For example, you will be preparing rooms, meet new hirers and show them the facilities, check on the lettings while on site and clearing up and preparing rooms for the next day. Checking on the security and safety of the site is an important part of this role.

The successful applicant must be enthusiastic and take pride in ensuring our school is clean, safe and functions well for the school community, the lettings clients and users.

We are looking for a flexible, skilled, organised and hardworking person who enjoys a busy varied job.

You will be able to communicate effectively with a range of different people and age groups. You will be able to communicate well with contractors and have good health and safety awareness. We need someone who is approachable, well-motivated and be able to work on their own initiative.

This role offers an opportunity to play a significant part in our wonderful inclusive community and to make a difference to children’s lives.

Caterham High School is on a journey to excellence. Ofsted noted (Sept 2018) that there is “energised leadership” and “absolute clarity” about our next steps. The report also noted that students’ behavior

is consistently good in lessons and that they are respectful and contribute positively to the school’s work and culture.

We look to provide development and training opportunities for all staff. Appropriate training and guidance will be provided for this post holder so that they can fulfil all aspects of the role.

We are a community school that serves a richly diverse area of East London, with many ethnic groups and languages represented. Our staff are well known as friendly and welcoming. There are staff activities such as football, badminton and yoga. Staff have free access to our fitness suite and parking is readily available.

Are you interested? You are welcome to visit the site or have a telephone conversation prior to application. Please contact Debby Venner (HR Manager) for more information.

Completed application forms should be e-mailed to D.Venner@ecaterham.net by Monday 6th February by 10am.

Interviews will be scheduled over a period of time starting in the week beginning 13th February 2023.

Please note, the school will assess applications immediately on application and reserves the right to interview and appoint a suitable candidate before the closing date.

Caterham High has been at the heart of the local community for over 60 years providing an excellent education for all young people that join our thriving institution. We are ambitious for our students, setting high aspirations in all that they do. We aim to ensure that they achieve the best exam results possible, have opportunities to develop their talents and aptitudes, and become confident young people who will step out to meet the challenges of the world today.

We pride ourselves on providing an outstanding learning environment in which all students realise their full potential. As a six form entry school we know our students very well, catering for the needs of the individual and ensuring strong pastoral and academic support. This makes us popular with students and staff alike who thrive on good working relationships and caring attitudes that create a warm, purposeful atmosphere. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, with many races, religions, cultures and languages represented.  We celebrate our diversity and welcome the opportunities it gives us to learn from each other.

Our home-school partnerships are very strong.  For students to maximise their potential, it is vital that parents and carers and the school work productively together. We use regular monitoring, target setting and dialogue with students and parents and carers to ensure students make good progress. There are many opportunities, formal and informal, for dialogue, which we strongly welcome.

We have an expanding and responsive curriculum aimed at enhancing choice and opportunity for students as they progress through the school from Year 7 to Year 13.  Our teaching is both innovative and challenging both in content and delivery, and ICT is used throughout the school to bring the curriculum to life and to stimulate and engage students in their learning. We make good use of our facilities (including the astro-turf pitch, pool, fitness suite and dance studio) and ensure that every child can be involved in the enrichment opportunities on offer.

Caterham High is a school with great strengths. Students of all ages are eager to learn and take pride in their school. They are the perfect ambassadors for us.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you would like to arrange an appointment to visit.

We thank you for your interest in our School and look forward to hearing from you.

Belinda Chapple

Headteacher
