The Lakes School is seeking to appoint a versatile multi-skilled General Vocational Technician as soon as possible to work across a range of subjects, as needed. Primarily, the successful candidate will work across PE, catering and textiles, as required. They will support timetabled class teachers by managing resources and working alongside students to help as requested. They will also be called upon to back up our first aid provision on the rare occasions when our Lead First Aider may not be available.

Prior school or industry experience in the areas of PE, outdoor education, catering and textiles will be an advantage but not essential. The successful candidate will have the ability to work well with children and with our other team members.  They will build resilience, confidence and emotional intelligence in our young people. A sound understanding of the specific needs and barriers for all our students will be essential.

A First Aid qualification and experience of managing First Aid with children is essential although full training could be available to a successful candidate. Knowledge of the management of medication is desirable.

The ability to drive a minibus would be desirable.

We are a high achieving, fully comprehensive school; a dynamic and innovative centre at the heart of the Lake District where all pupils are encouraged to be inspired, feel challenged, become empowered.  The Lakes School was graded good in all areas by OFSTED in November 2019.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS and health check along with two satisfactory references and a six month probation period. Applications will only be considered when submitted on a fully completed school application form. All applicants will be considered on the basis of their suitability for the post regardless of age, sex, race or disability.

Application forms are available via the school website (https://thelakesschool.com/the-lakes-school-cumbria/vacancies/) or alternatively from Mrs Barnes, Headteacher’s PA, by emailing employment@lakes.cumbria.sch.uk.

Early application is encouraged; this advert will remain open until a suitable candidate is found to fill the role.
