OUR SCHOOL

This is an exciting time to join The Charles Dickens School as it joins the Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) working in partnership with Barton Court Grammar School Academy, an outstanding co-educational grammar school in Canterbury. This new venture will see The Charles Dickens students and staff benefit from outstanding leadership and the sharing of best practice. THE POST

An outstanding Teacher of Geography is required for either Easter or September 2017, in this over-subscribed non-selective, co-educational school which benefits from the state-of- the-art new buildings and is situated in a beautiful part of the South East coast. The School enjoys a good reputation locally, with dedicated colleagues and enthusiastic students. Staff hold high expectations for all students and work tirelessly to continue to raise attainment and achievement.

The successful candidate should be highly qualified, dynamic and able to deliver outstanding lessons. This post offers an excellent opportunity to work within a strong, successful and supportive department and would suit an enthusiastic NQT or a more experienced professional looking to further their expertise. The ability to teach Geography to GCSE is essential and Travel and Tourism desirable.

The Charles Dickens School is a mixed secondary school for students aged 11-18, located in Broadstairs, Kent. There are nearly 1,200 students in attendance, and around 50 enrolled in the sixth form. The school has a supportive and active parents and friends association, to which all parents are subscribed automatically.

The school opened its own sixth form in 2013 to encourage students to study for two further years. The Charles Dickens School prides itself on being an integral part of the local community. It organises a number of work-related placements and charity fundraising. It also offers pupils the chance to attend international educational visits.
