We are seeking a collaborative, dynamic, and innovative colleague from September 2019 to join the Geography department at Chipping Norton School, a rural comprehensive school, set in the heart of the Cotswolds.
This is one of our highest performing departments and results at both KS4 and KS5 have been consistently excellent and significantly above national averages. The subject is a popular choice at GCSE and A Level as a result of innovative and engaging teaching. We regularly have a number of students continue their studies through to degree level at Russell Group Universities. The well-resourced department consists of two full-time and one part time members of staff and is suited in a block of three large teaching rooms and one Sixth Form study room, complete with computers and tablets to use in lessons.
The post involves teaching Geography in KS3, at GCSE and A level, integrating modern Geographical applications such as GIS at all stages. In the department we aim to deliver Geography lessons which capture students’ curiosities, encourage academic rigour and develop a wide-ranging Geographical knowledge base.
Visits, by arrangement, are warmly welcomed and the closing date for applications is Thursday 23 May at 4.00 p.m. If you are interested, please complete a Chipping Norton application form and include a letter outlining your reasons for applying and your suitability for the role. We would like you to consider the following questions, and outline your responses in your letter of application.
• What do you understand by the term ‘knowledge-rich curriculum’ and how would you embed this in your teaching practice?
• How might you contribute to enrichment opportunities for our students?
• Recent trends in education are bringing knowledge to the fore. What are your thoughts on the role that knowledge plays in the teaching of Geography?
