A “fresh start” school now firmly “Good” – join our team on the way to outstanding.
Just 30 minutes by train from Central London, The Highcrest Academy is the first All Ability Academy in the county of Buckinghamshire. It is culturally diverse and a vibrant school making it a fantastic place to teach. We have some students who will need all your support and yet we also featured in the national Ofsted report (2016) for providing challenge to the most able. Does this enthuse you?
There are approximately 950 students on roll, which includes the Sixth Form. A new building programme, just completed, comprises a brand new Sixth Form Centre, sports facilities including a gym and a new restaurant and coffee shop for both students and staff.
The Humanities department has gone from strength to strength in recent years as we offer more curriculum options, with passionate subject specialists who are friendly and supportive. The department strives to make lessons enjoyable yet challenging for students, to encourage a love of learning and confidence in their understanding. We run many trips to strengthen pupils’ love and understanding of the topics covered, allowing students to experience new opportunities. The department has seen a rapidly increasing growth in the number of students choosing options within the Humanities disciplines, both at KS4 and KS5 and joining us at this time of growth could offer some exciting opportunities.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Geography teacher with exceptional subject knowledge to join our team, teaching up to KS5. NQTs will be considered. There is also the potential to teach other Humanities disciplines at KS5 including A Level Politics and/or Sociology, alongside our current team, with support available if needed. Our new Sixth Form centre opened in November 2018 offering state of the art facilities. It is used extensively by students studying Humanities in Key Stage 5. Committed to raising attainment, you will have the ability to motivate students and help develop an engaging and inspiring curriculum in Geography.
The Humanities department includes subject specialist teachers in RE, History, Geography, Psychology and Sociology. This is an excellent place to develop your teaching and share expertise with other experienced members of staff.
This role could suit an experienced teacher but NQTs will also be considered. Highcrest offers an innovative and extensive CPD package. No matter what your experience, we will help you develop into the teacher you aspire to be.
“I’d definitely say our INSET and CPD programme/sessions are far better than anything I’ve seen or heard of from other schools.” ... Head of Art
We also have a thriving House system that brings our whole school community together.
“The growing house system encourages competition between not only students but also staff, which creates a real community feeling, making it an enjoyable place to work.” ... Head of Humanities
