Job overview
A well-qualified German Assistant is required for September 2022. The Department is very successful, and the School has a long-standing record of high academic achievement (92.5% of A Level and Pre-U entries gained A* to B/D1-M1 grades in 2019) and there is also much happening in terms of extra-curricular activities. We expect all staff to be fully involved in School life.
Modern Languages are vibrant, successful and flourishing at CLS; Old Grammar (Y6) have a bespoke Linguistics Course, First & Second Form (Y7 & 8) all take French and Mandarin, French remains compulsory in Third Form (Y9) and pupils can also start German and/or Spanish and/or carry on with Mandarin. A Modern Language remains compulsory at GCSE with many boys taking two, three or four modern languages; Russia is an ab initio GCSE. There is a rich supra-curricular programme, which is overseen by the Head of Department, including societies and trips. Large numbers of pupils go on to high-tariff universities to read Single and Joint Honours Modern Languages.

About City of London School
City of London School is an independent school based in London for boys aged 10-18.
The school site is situated by the Thames. It has over 20 acres of sports pitches. It was established in 1834 and moved to its present site in 1986. The school is governed by a board and by the City of London Corporation, which appoints its governors.
