Job overview

We are looking for a native German speaker to join our teaching team at Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) as a German Teacher (0.7FTE) & Language Assistant (0.3FTE) from August 2024. This position is offered as a full-time post (on 32.5 hours per week basis).

The Role:

  • Develop and deliver the Year 7, 8 and 9 Native Speaker extra-curricular German language classes;
  • Deliver the Year 10 and 11 Native Speaker Enrichment Programme, which prepares native/near-native German students to take their GCSE in German;
  • Deliver the IB Diploma German B level courses at Standard and Higher level. An ability to teach German IB Language A would be an advantage;
  • Deliver the A Level German course and prepare students for the examination;
  • Enhance the cultural awareness of the target language country amongst students and staff;
  • Record and monitor the progress of the students with reference to specified learning targets;
  • Participate in parent’s evenings, staff meetings, conferences and workshops;
  • Plan lessons and prepare homework for students;
  • Prepare students for their examinations (including orals);
  • Help students produce authentic style written work;
  • Attend and contribute if necessary, to meetings regarding the pupil;
  • Record the progress of the student with reference to specified learning targets;
  • Complete reports as per the school reporting schedule.


The Candidate:

  • Native speaker of German;
  • Has a Teacher Qualification;
  • Be able to work autonomously as well as a member of a team;
  • Be able to develop engaging materials and teach in an interactive way;
  • Be able to adapt his/her lessons to a variety of language abilities and ages;
  • Be able to work in an international school environment;
  • Experience of the English National Curriculum and GCSE, A Level, and IB examinations would be an advantage.


You will work in a lively and collaborative environment and be keen to promote German within the school, both inside and beyond the classroom. The successful candidate will have the skills to inspire students with an enthusiasm for learning. 


What we offer:

  • The initial contract will be for one year renewable after a successful review;
  • Salary indication €3.603.00 - €4.809.00 gross per month, depending on experience + 9% holiday allowance;
  • Relocation support and other benefits.
