Job overview
MEI is a charity, committed to improving mathematics education for all. It is at the forefront of all aspects of mathematics education including professional and curriculum development. MEI has managed the national Further Mathematics Support Programme (FMSP) and its predecessor, the Further Mathematics Network, since 2005, and has recently been awarded the contract by the DfE to run the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP).
The AMSP is a government funded project which aims to increase participation in A level Mathematics, A level Further Mathematics and Core Maths. It will support schools and colleges throughout England, delivering professional development for teachers and providing enrichment and tuition for students.
MEI is seeking to appoint a Girls’ Participation Coordinator.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an exceptional team. The role will involve coordinating the MEI’s support for schools and colleges to raise girls’ participation in level 3 mathematics. This will include developing the AMSP’s strategy, sharing effective practice relating to how gender affects post-16 choices and working across the AMSP team and with key stakeholders to disseminate relevant information to students, parents, teachers and school leaders.
The contract will commence on 1 Sept 2018 and runs until 30 April 2020 in the first instance, although there may be opportunities for extension, subject to continued government funding.
Salary will be in the range £45000 to £50000, depending on skills and experience.
This is a full time post but applications from individuals seeking part time, or flexible working arrangements, are welcome. Secondments from teaching posts on a part-time basis will also be considered.
The post is home-based but will involve frequent travel nationally.
All offers of employment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, as well as other appropriate clearances.
