The Bishop Fraser Trust is a C of E multi academy trust established in 2017.  This is an exciting time to join us as it provides a great opportunity to work closely with the five schools currently in the MAT – Bolton St Catherine’s Academy, Bury C of E High School, Canon Slade School St James’s C of E High School St Catherine’s Primary in Horwich; sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress.

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic governance professional who will bring a deep knowledge of governance combined with the ability to build strong relationships, in order to make a strategic contribution to the journey of our trust. You will be required to work collaboratively with governance stakeholders, the Executive Team, the Central Team and academy leaders in order to advise on the strategic development of governance while holding a deep understanding of government guidance for school trust governance. You will manage the Trust’s policy framework, provide responsive and compliance-based support and, lead on the on-boarding of all governance stakeholders.

We are currently undergoing a governance review and the successful candidate will support the integration of the recommendations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to drive forward the governance agenda and develop high quality governance skills through a nationally recognised qualification.

 

Main Duties:

  • To be the trust strategic lead for all aspects of governance, supporting the Board of Trustees and Executive team in ensuring the highest standards of governance across the trust in a cohesive way
  • To be responsible for leading governance across the trust.


The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • will be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • will quickly build rapport and effective professional relationships with and colleagues and governing teams
  • demonstrates personal resilience
  • has the ability and willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the role
  • is a strategic thinker and problem solver
  • can motivate teams, e.g. clerks


The working hours will be:

Whilst this role is initially for the equivalent of 2 days per week, due to the nature of the timing of the meetings, this will be flexible over time and the successful candidate will be expected to organise their work schedule around the governance meetings.
