Students follow a British-based curriculum up to age 16. Post-16 they have a choice of three internationally recognised pre-university examination courses: English A Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or BTEC. There is an Early Childhood Centre for children aged 1-3. BSB has outstanding facilities and is the only international school in Belgium to have its own 25m indoor swimming pool. With an excellent record of academic achievement, BSB students go on to attend a wide range of top universities across the globe.

We are looking for an inspirational and highly motivated teacher, committed to challenging and enthusing our students, to join a successful History and Government & Politics Department and to lead Government and Politics at Post-16. The ability to teach some A Level or IB History is preferred but not essential. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic about teaching History from 11-16.

This is an excellent opportunity for a resourceful and innovative teacher to take responsibility for leading & managing the A Level Government and Politics section within the History Department, to motivate and inspire all our students and to play an active role in the life of our school, in the faculty and beyond the classroom. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Profile:

The successful candidate should ideally have previous experience teaching in the British system – either in the UK or internationally - across the Secondary School age range (11-18) and be required to manage other Government & Politics teachers.

He, or she should:

  • implement & develop the new linear specification, selecting options from examination boards which best meet the needs of our international students;
  • be fully aware of latest political developments and current affairs relevant to the teaching of A Level Government & Politics;
  • deliver engaging and well-resourced lessons for all students and which prepare them fully for public examinations at GCSE and A Level/IB;
  • make use of the excellent resources in our locality and further afield to support and enhance the students’ experience of the Government and Politics course;
  • prepare and organise the Government and Politics budget, resourcing and CPD opportunities;
  • contribute with enthusiasm to the History Department, taking an active role in innovative and enquiry-based learning;
  • be appreciative of students’ differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds and learning needs;
  • be actively involved in professional learning within the department, and across the school, including after-school meetings, observations, relevant courses and CPD days; and
  • be willing and able to contribute wholeheartedly to the extra-curricular life of the school.

Our offer:

  • A full-time, permanent position
  • Professional experience in a vibrant British international environment
  • Excellent professional learning opportunities
  • An attractive salary (BSB Learning & Teaching staff – Band 5 representing a minimum of € 50.482 and a maximum of € 91.625 gross per year, depending on the years of relevant experience) and extra-legal benefits including an hospitalisation insurance, extra pension payments, luncheon vouchers, free use of the BSB sport facilities)
